Who's Participating in Great California ShakeOut?

The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills began in California in 2008.

Two Belmont schools and several local agencies in will be participating in this year's Great California ShakeOut, in which millions of people worldwide will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills began in California in 2008 as an opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes.

The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organization to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies.

Locally, the San Mateo County Office of Education, Immaculate Heart of Mary School and Carlmont High School, the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services will be participating Thursday.
