Weather Service Issues Flash Flood Watch for Coastal Peninsula

The flash flood watch goes into effect at midnight and lasts until Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for parts of the Bay Area including the coastal portion of the Peninsula.

The flash flood watch will go into effect at midnight and is expected to last through Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy rain is anticipated tonight, bringing rainfall rates as high as 3/4 of an inch per hour, with showers continuing into Wednesday.

Another storm system is expected in the Bay Area on Thursday with moderate to heavy rain, according to the weather service.

Other areas where the flash flood watch will be in effect include the coastal North Bay, including Point Reyes National Seashore, the San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys and the Santa Cruz Mountains.
