VIDEO: Pedestrian Decoy Operation Nets 77 Citations

The Belmont Police Department issued 77 citations for pedestrian right-of-way violations and made 93 enforcement stops during its from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
There was also one non-injury collision at Villa and Ralston avenues when a driver who had stopped for a pedestrian was rear-ended by another vehicle following too closely, Belmont police Lt. Pat Halleran said.
The city of Belmont has averaged three auto-pedestrian collisions per year since 2007, which all resulted in minor or moderate injuries, Halleran said.

Officers from the Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo and Foster City police departments assisted with the decoy operation, as well as deputies with the San Carlos bureau of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
