Update: El Camino Real Now Open in Both Directions

The tree that had fallen across El Camino Real in San Mateo near 9th Ave. has been cleared and the road is open in both directions.

Update: Tuesday 6:09 p.m.

The San Mateo Police Department is reporting that road closures for the fallen tree have now been cleared. El Camino Real is now open in both directions at Central Park.

Tuesday 5:40 p.m.

San Mateo police were notified Tuesday afternoon that a very large tree had fallen on the Central Park side of El Camino Real between 9th and 5th avenues. Some property damage was sustained, and one person reported a minor injury. Crews are arriving on scene to remove several pieces of the tree that are blocking northbound lanes of El Camino Real.

Road closures are in effect on El Camino Real and severe traffic impacts are expected over the next hour as crews clear the remains of the tree.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible---El Camino Real between 12th and 5th avenues until approximately 6:30 p.m.
