UPDATED: Three Hurt in Four Car Crash in Half Moon Bay

Major injuries were reported in the crash.

Update:

State Highway 1 has reopened following a four-vehicle crash that injured three people in Half Moon Bay Tuesday afternoon, a San Mateo County sheriff's spokeswoman said.

Traffic was shut down on Highway 1 in both directions and reopened at about 5:15 p.m., Sheriff's Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

Original Story As Follows: 

A four-vehicle crash in Half Moon Bay injured three people this afternoon and has shut down traffic along state Highway 1, a San Mateo County sheriff's spokeswoman said.

The crash happened near the intersection of Highway 1 and Higgins Canyon Road and close to Coastside Fire Protection District Station 40 at 1191 Main St. at about 2 p.m., county officials said.

Major injuries were reported in the crash.

Sheriff's Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said three people were injured and a medical helicopter was dispatched to the area.

Traffic was shut down on Highway 1 in both directions and was expected to remain closed until 4:30 or 5:30 p.m.

That dam intersection is a true nightmare, It is surprising no more accidents or deaths happen there!!! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE THERE1 CALTRANS ARE YOU LISTENING? Bless these poor souls that are hurt.

Who was it? anyone know? Please my sister, her boyfriend. and my niece and nephew travel that road many times a day i can not reach her!!!
