Traffic Advisory: Section of Ralston Ave. Closed This Week

The one lane of Ralston Avenue between Elmer Street and Sixth Avenue will be closed April 22-26 to allow crews to work on the Smart Corridor project.

Belmont residents and motorists may find their commute slowed a bit starting Monday as a lane on Ralston Avenue shuts down for a Caltrans project.

From April 22-26, Belmont police say the right hand lane of westbound Ralston Avenue between Elmer Street and Sixth Avenue will be closed between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The work being done along Ralston Avenue is part of the designed to improve mobility along El Camino and major connectors to Highway 101 throughout the county.

The project includes cameras, signage, system detectors and signal interconnection between Caltrans and local agency signal controllers through a fiber optic communication system. This will enable Caltrans and cities to implement traffic management strategies along state routes and major local streets.
