Traffic Advisory: Hwy. 92 Near HMB to be Closed Intermittently Overnight

In case you were thinking about sneaking off to the beach late at night....

A month-long highway improvement project will prompt intermittent closure of Hwy. 92 near Half Moon Bay starting Thurs., July 26 at 10 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be resurfacing sections of the roadway on Hwy. 92 in San Mateo County between San Mateo and Half Moon Bay from July 26 through Aug. 30. Crews will repair sections of roadway that have become worn over time.

Lane Closure Times and Locations

Lane closures are scheduled to start at 10 p.m. each night and conclude the following morning at 6 a.m. Work is scheduled Sunday through Friday.   
CHP says that to to ensure worker and public safety, both west- and eastbound lanes of Hwy.  All work is weather permitting.

During intermittent lane closures, one lane of traffic on Highway 92 will remain open while the other lane of traffic on Hwy. 92 will be closed between Half Moon Bay and Pilarcitos Creek Road.

Crews will help direct motorists and install changeable message signs during the lane closures.                       

CHP asks that motorists allow for extra travel time and drive cautiously through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling distance between vehicles. CHP also reminds motorists to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
