Belmont Police Nail Tool Thief

The suspect fled in a vehicle, leading officers on a short pursuit.

 

A Pacifica man who attempted to steal tools from a Belmont garage was apprehended by Belmont police Saturday morning after a short pursuit.

According to Belmont police, Mitchell Borden, 25, of Pacifica, was located near the residence in the 2200 block of Village Court where he was allegedly stealing tools from the garage.

At about 9:15 a.m., Belmont Police received a report that a white man with very short hair had just stolen tools from the garage of a home on Village Court. Police say the burglary was interrupted, however they did not say if it was the homeowner who interrupted the crime in progress.

The suspect then fled the area in a small white car with a woman passenger.

Officers responding to the area located a car matching the description driving east in the 1500 block of Ralston Avenue. When officers tried to stop the car, the vehicle fled, leading officers on a short pursuit which ended in the 1000 block of Hill Street. The driver then ran from the car, and the woman remained inside. 

Police say the suspect was quickly located at a nearby residence and taken into custody.  The woman was released a short time later after providing a statement.
