Teen Crashes at Busy Belmont Intersection; No Injuries

A teenage driver miscalculated a turn onto Ralston Avenue, causing his SUV to flip.

Westbound Ralston Avenue at Alameda de las Pulgas was blocked for about half an hour this afternoon after a teenage driver miscalculated a turn and flipped his gray Range Rover in its side.

The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. when the teen, whose name was not released, tried to turn left from Alameda de las Pulgas onto westbound Ralston Avenue, Belmont Police Chief Don Mattei said.

Mattei, who responded to the scene along with at least half a dozen other officers and emergency personnel, said the SUV struck a curb and flipped on its side. The 16-year-old driver, the only occupant, climbed out through the sun roof.

The boy wasn't injured. His mother came to the scene as well, and his car was able to be driven away.
