SUV Crashes into San Mateo Fire Station, Driver Arrested

The driver's teenage daughter was injured in the crash.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after she crashed a SUV into a San Mateo fire station late Monday night, injuring her teenage daughter.

Lasheena Cardona of Oakland remained hospitalized Tuesday following the incident shortly before 11 p.m. Monday in which Cardona reportedly drove her GMC Yukon into San Mateo Fire Station #27, located at 1801 DeAnza, police said.

Though the fire station was occupied at the time, no fire personnel were injured.

Cardona’s 17-year-old daughter sustained non-life threatening injuries, and Cardona did not appear to have been seriously hurt.

Cardona, who police believe was heavily intoxicated at the time of the crash, has been arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment.

The fire station endured “extensive damage,” according to a police statement.
