Belmont Intersection Open Following Six-Car Collision

The accident at the corner of Alameda de las Pulgas and Ralston Avenue happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The intersection has been re-opened.

A spokesperson for the Belmont Police Department has reported that all lanes at the intersection of Alameda de las Pulgas and Ralston Avenue are re-opened following a multiple-vehicle crash earlier Sunday evening.

Belmont Police Sergeant Supanich told Patch that a driver traveling east on Ralston Avenue just east of Alameda de las Pulgas lost control of his/her car and hit multiple vehicles causing one to be pushed across the center divide and into the westbound lane where it struck another car.

Only minor injuries were reported Supanich said.

Updated 6:56 p.m. 

A multiple-vehicle accident on Ralston Avenue has traffic stopped in all directions at the corner of Ralston Avenue and Alameda de las Pulgas. Belmont police and fire are on the scene, but were unable to give any details.

Two of the vehicles involved are in the westbound lane next to the Safeway parking lot, one is an Avanti pizza delivery van. Four more vehicles are in the eastbound lane near the corner of the intersection.

There did not appear to be any serious injuries. Belmont Patch will update this story as details become available.
