Shooting Kills Infant, Injures Parents in East Palo Alto

Police are searching for two men in connection with the shooting early Sunday morning.

East Palo Alto police are searching for two men suspected of killing a two-month-old infant and seriously injuring his mother and father this morning, a police officer said.

The two men fired multiple shots into the car of a Redwood City family leaving a baby shower in the 400 block of Wisteria Drive in East Palo Alto just before 1 a.m. The parents, their 3-year-old child and 2-month-old son were in the car, Acting police Capt. Jeff Liu said.

The mother and father, both 22 years old, suffered serious, but not life-threatening gunshot wounds, police said. Their 2-month-old infant son suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

The three shooting victims were taken to Stanford Hospital where the baby was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m.

The suspects fled from the scene after they were seen specifically firing at the victims' car, Liu said.

A police artist has met with witnesses to create composite sketches of the two suspects, Liu said.

According to Liu, the East Palo Alto Police Department will hold a news conference at 3 p.m. to release sketches of the two male suspects and announce a reward for information.
