Shooting in East Palo Alto Kills One Teen, Injures Another

The shooting occurred late Sunday night.

Police are investigating a shooting that killed one East Palo Alto teenager and hospitalized another Sunday night.

East Palo Alto police responded to the parking lot of 1489 East Bayshore Road around 10:30 p.m. and found an 18-year-old and 19-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

The 18-year-old man was taken to Stanford Hospital for treatment and is expected to survive, police said. The 19-year-old man died at the scene.

The department's Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case and detectives have not determined a motive for the fatal shooting. No
suspect description was immediately available from police.

Witnesses are asked to contact East Palo Alto police by leaving a voicemail message or sending a text message to their anonymous tip line at (650) 409-6792. Those with information about the homicide can also send an anonymous email to epa@tipnow.org.
