Second Mountain Lion Spotted in Woodside in Two Days

Both were sighted early in the morning.

A mountain lion was seen in Woodside early Tuesday morning, the second sighting reported in the town in two days, San Mateo County emergency officials said.

The carnivorous cat was spotted at about 3:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Highland Terrace, according to emergency officials.

On Monday, the animal was seen in the 300 block of Whiskey Hill Road at abut 5:40 a.m.

Mountain lions reside in more than half of California, and generally live wherever deer exist, including here in Belmont.

Residents are advised to not approach mountain lions, and instead try to appear as large and noisy as possible.

The California Department of Fish and Game also warns to avoid jogging at dawn, dusk or at night when mountain lions are most active.
