San Carlos Woman Drives on Belmont Sidewalks, Collides With Maserati

The driver was driving recklessly through Belmont, passing cars on the wrong side of the road and driving on sidewalks.

A 21-year-old San Carlos woman was taken to an area hospital for evaluation Wednesday evening after a reckless drive through Belmont, which ended in a collision.

Belmont police say that the woman, whose name is being withheld, was passing cars on the wrong side of the road in the northbound lane of Sixth Avenue near Ralston Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. The vehicle, a Volkswagen sedan, then traveled west on Ralston Avenue where it reportedly was passing cars by driving on the sidewalk. The car then turned onto southbound Alameda de las Pulgas, and then attempted to turn right onto Carlmont Drive.

However, police say the Volkswagen took the turn onto Carlmont Drive wide, and stopped at the curb, narrowly missing a parked car. The driver then attempted to back up, but collided with a Maserati sedan that was eastbound on Carlmont Drive.
