Police Nab Alleged Five-Time Thief of Yaseen Foundation

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday in Belmont.

A transient suspected of burglarizing the Yaseen Foundation five times was arrested early Saturday morning in Belmont, police said today.

Jaouad Bouamama, 28, allegedly committed his first burglary at the Muslim community center, located at 621 Masonic Way, on March 25. The other burglaries occurred later that month and into April, police said.

According to police, in each instance Bouamama would take money from the donation boxes. Though the exact amount stolen is unknown, police said it's likely more than $1,000.

Evidence at the scene led investigators to link Bouamama to the burglaries, Belmont police Lt. Pat Halleran said.

When Bouamama was spotted by a police officer at Old County Road and Masonic Way at about 12:45 a.m., the officer stopped him and took him into custody without incident.
