Police Looking for Burglar Captured on Video

is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a burglary that occurred on July 10 at a home in the 1500 block of Sixth Avenue in Belmont.

According to police, the burglary occurred between 12:55pm and 1:30pm. The suspect and his car were captured on a neighbor’s security camera.

Police say the suspect, a male of unknown race, can be seen in the video pulling up in front of a neighboring residence and then walking to the victim’s home, which is out of view of the camera.  He returns a few minutes later with a suitcase, which he loads into his vehicle and then leaves.  Numerous items were taken, including jewelry and electronics. The suitcase used by the suspect to carry the items from the house was among the items taken.

The suspect is described by police as a male of unknown race wearing a plain white t-shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball cap.  The suspect’s vehicle is a blue or green two-door Mercedes with large chrome rims.

“We are hoping that by putting the video out to the public, we will get the tip that will lead us to this suspect,” said Belmont Police Chief Daniel DeSmidt.
