UPDATED 12:56 P.M.:
A police pursuit that made its way through the Hallmark neighborhood of Belmont and the lock-down of two local schools stemmed from a residential burglarly off Polhemus Road in San Mateo Thursday afternoon.
When authorities learned of the burglary, a police broadcast went out to surrounding cities that included descriptions of three suspects as well as the vehicle they fled the scene in.
Shortly after the broadcast went out, San Mateo Police spotted the suspects' vehicle on Highway 101, and a pursuit ensued.
San Mateo Police pursued the suspects through San Carlos and into Belmont, where members of the Belmont Police Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office got involved.
The pursuit continued up Ralston Avenue, where the suspects then turned onto Hallmark Drive, and then onto Rinconada and into a condominium complex in the cul-de-sac.
At one point during the pursuit, the suspects' vehicle -- reportedly a Hyundai Santa Fe -- crashed into an unmarked Belmont Police car. The police officer was injured and is currently being treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries he is expected to recover from.
Two of the suspects were apprehended. The third suspect got out of the car and ran through the condo neighborhood but was apprehended in the 2800 block of Hallmark Drive.
Because a suspect was on the loose, Belmont Police locked down both Fox Elementary and Ralston Middle schools for approximately 20 minutes. Both schools have since re-opened.
Police say there is currently no danger to locals in the area.
