Police Blotter: Pot Leaves in Garbage Bin, Social Network Threats

Monday, December 5, 2011

9:31am  Citizen Assist  A woman went into the lobby of the police department administrative offices asking to speak to an officer about a piece of mail she received from the U.S. Census Bureau. She told officers that the Census Bureau wanted to interview her.

11:32am  Drive with Suspended License  An Belmont man was stopped for a traffic violation at Cypress and Laurel avenues; the officer then arrested the man for driving with a suspended license. The man was cited and released.

2:34pm  Any Civil Problem  A verbal argument occurred between a homeowner on Somerset Drive and a carpet cleaner in front of the residence.

3:15pm  Suspicious Circumstances  A woman told officers that a family member who was not allowed to attend a service at the Neptune Society for a deceased relative showed up anyway, and was advised to leave. The unwanted relative returned a short time later and was seen going through the recycling bin at the Neptune Society claiming she was trying to find out where her ex-husband and children are living. Per court orders, the woman is not allowed to know where her ex-husband and children are. 

4:42pm  Suspicious Circumstances  The manager of an apartment building on Carlmont Drive told officers that one of his tenants pointed out marijuana leaves and stems in the building's garbage bin. The reporting party wanted to point out the bin to officers.

5:48pm  Disabled Vehicle  A woman told officers that her vehicle was stalled on Alameda de las Pulgas, and that she could not go for help because she had a small child in the car. She thought she may have run out of gas.

9:15am  Citizen Assist  A man on Tioga Way told officers his 19-year-old daughter left the house that morning at 12:30am and was supposed to return by 1am but did not return. The father was unable to reach the daughter by text or phone, but she later returned home.

11:19am  Suspicious Circumstances  A woman on Tahoe Drive reported that she received a call from a man stating that her grandson was in jail in Mexico and his bail was $2,900. She then received a call from "legal aid" stating that her grandson was in Burlingame.

12:22pm  Welfare Check  A mother and child were soliciting money in front of the Belmont Post Office on Masonic Way. 

1:09pm  Minor Injury Accident   Four vehicles were involved in a minor injury accident on Ralston Avenue at Old County Road.

5:18pm  Burglary (Commercial/Residential) Sometime between 8am and 5pm, unknown suspects entered a residence on Briarwood Way through a back door and took several items.

8:14pm  Disturbance  A man on Irene Court called 911 on his cell phone to report that his wife was abusive and that he did not feel safe at his residence. He also said his wife was trying to kick out his friend even though he didn't want the friend to leave.

8:37am  Disabled Vehicle  A large semi truck was blocking the roadway along Sixth Avenue and Waltermire Street. The truck was unloading items with no traffic control.

9:28am  Warrant/Service Attempt  A transient was sleeping in the bushes in front of a driveway in the 100 block of Old County Road. The man, from San Luis Obispo, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

1:06pm  Disturbance  Two girls were fighting on El Camino Real at Ralston Avenue. 

6:35pm  Tampering with Vehicle  An unknown suspect took a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked on E Street.

11:11am  Threats  A person reported that their 14-year-old son was being threatened by another person, and that the son had been having boyfriend-girlfriend issues. The threats had occurred on a social networking site.

11:49am  Burglary (Commercial/Residential) A home on Escondido Way was ransacked, and a computer and jewelry were taken. 

5:10pm  Barking Dog  Someone reported that a dog on San Juan Boulevard had been barking all day.

7:50pm  Missing Person (Adult/Juvenile) A 13-year-old girl left her house on Arroyo View Circle at approximately 7:15pm after a disagreement with her parents. She was on foot with no cell phone.
