NNO Reminder from Belmont Police

There will be nine neighborhood gatherings throughout Belmont on Aug. 6 for National Night Out.

The Belmont Police Department would like to remind residents that the annual National Night Out event is just one week away...next Tuesday, August 6, 2013.

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event designed to raise crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit & unity as well as strengthen partnerships between the City and the community.

NNO is a unique crime prevention event sponsored by the City of Belmont, the Belmont Chamber of Commerce and several local citizen & neighborhood associations. The purpose is to improve & strengthen our neighborhoods by getting neighbors together in a social setting. This year’s event has been scheduled for Tuesday August 6, 2013 between the hours of 5:30pm and 8:00pm.

These are the event locations for this year’s NNO in Belmont. Exact starting times range from 5:30pm to 6:00pm, depending on location (the event at the library will only run for one hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm). Some locations will have food and drinks, while others will feature ice cream socials. The theme of this year’s NNO is “See Something, Say Something”.

2. Hallmark Drive at Water Dog Lake (BHCIA neighborhood) 3. 3225 Adelaide Way (Skymont neighborhood)

4. Carlmont Drive at the entrance to Hidden Canyon Park

5. Francis Avenue at Notre Dame (Belburn neighborhood)

6. Alexander Park (Sterling Downs neighborhood)

7. Sunnyslope at O’Neill (Downtown neighborhood)

8. O’Donnell Park (Homeview neighborhood)

9. Belmont Library (5:00pm-6:00pm Only)

Belmont Public Works and Public Safety Departments will have static displays at the Carlmont Shopping Center, and city staff will be visiting the various block parties. Some locations will have volunteer story tellers from the Belmont Library. Information will also be available on upcoming city projects, as well as for public safety (including crime maps, tips for calling 9-1-1, tips for buying security camera equipment).
