NDNU Student Safe After Being Kidnapped by Ex-Boyfriend

The suspect has been taken into custody.

A student was allegedly kidnapped and held against her will by an ex-boyfriend late last night or early this morning, but is now safe, said.

The incident began when the suspect, 22-year-old Christopher McCalister, reportedly threatened the student and forced her to leave her apartment at the NDNU campus with him, Belmont police Capt. Dan DeSmidt said.

Fearing for her safety, the victim agreed to go with McCalister, with whom she'd had a previous dating relationship. A second man then drove them to a Motel 6 in Sunnyvale, according to DeSmidt.

The victim later text messaged friends and family from the motel claiming she was being held against her will.

Police were notified and the victim was discovered in a room with McCalister, DeSmidt said.

The suspect was taken into custody immediately and is being held on an unrelated domestic violence warrant and probation violations out of Santa Clara County.

Police are still searching for the driver of the car. He's described as a Hispanic man in his 20s with dark hair. His name may be "Vic" or "Chewy" and he may live in East Palo Alto. The car is a gray Pontiac Grand Prix.
