Mountain Lion Spotted Walking on Burlingame Golf Course

The animal was seen at about 4:25 a.m. Sunday.

A mountain lion was spotted walking on a golf course in unincorporated Burlingame early Sunday morning.

The carnivorous cat was seen walking accross Crystal Springs Golf Course at about 4:25 a.m., San Mateo County emergency officials said.

Residents are advised not to approach mountain lions, and to avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk and night, when the animals are most active.

In the case of a mountain lion encounter, emergency officials advise residents to try to appear large and make noise.

Mountain lions reside in more than half of California, and generally live wherever deer exist, including here in San Mateo County.
