Mountain Lion Spotted in Woodside

The sighting was reported at 6 p.m. Thursday.

A mountain lion was seen Thursday evening in Woodside, San Mateo County emergency officials said.

The carnivorous cat was spotted at about 6 p.m. in the area of 359 Preston Road near Old La Honda Road.

Residents are advised to not approach mountain lions, and instead try to appear as large and noisy as possible. The California Department of Fish and Game also warns to avoid jogging at dawn, dusk or at night when mountain lions are most active.
