Motorists Should Prepare for Wet Weather Driving

Police in Belmont offer tips for safe driving in winter weather.

With wet weather coming soon, the Belmont Police Department is reminding drivers that it’s important to slow down when rain, fog or other winter weather elements are present.

To enhance the driving experience and promote safety, Belmont Police offer these winter driving tips:

  • Check to see that the windshield wipers are in good condition
  • Turn on your vehicle’s headlights anytime you have your windshield wipers on continuously
  • Reduce your speed and allow more time for your journey
  • If you encounter fog, again, slow down. Drive with your lights on low beam. Don’t stop on a highway, unless it’s an emergency. Keep a close watch on your speed, wet weather increases stopping distance
The American Automobile Association offers more winter driving tips on its website.
