Man Pleads Not Guilty to Having Sex With Belmont Teen

Armando Lopez-Galvez pleaded not guilty this afternoon in San Mateo County Superior Court to five felony charges.

A 21-year-old man pleaded not guilty in a Redwood City courtroom this afternoon to five felony charges stemming from an alleged sexual relationship with a 13-year-old Belmont girl.

Armando Lopez-Galvez, a Redwood City resident, entered the plea in San Mateo County Superior Court after he was without incident at his place of work last Tuesday.

According to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, Lopez-Galvez engaged in a sexual relationship with the teenage Belmont girl after meeting her online.

School officials discovered their relationship after witnessing the girl log onto Facebook and online dating websites while at school, the district attorney's office reported.

Lopez-Galvez is charged with oral copulation with a person under 16, child molestation, arranging a meeting for committing a lewd act with a child and unlawful sexual intercourse.

He remains in custody in lieu of $200,000 bail, and is due to appear in court again on April 22, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
