Man Hospitalized After Hit By SUV in Belmont

The man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision, according to police.

The following is a news release from the City of Belmont:

A 64-year-old Berkeley man was struck by an SUV while crossing Davey Glen Road on Monday evening.

On Monday, May 12 at approximately 6:20pm, Belmont Police and Fire units responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Davey Glen Road, west of El Camino.  Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the 64-year-old Berkeley man down in the roadway.  The man was treated at the scene by Belmont Fire Department paramedics and transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

While the collision is under investigation, it appears that the man was crossing the road N/B approximately 100 feet west of El Camino, when he was struck by a 2007 Jeep SUV driven by a 24-year-old San Carlos woman, who was turning onto Davey Glen from the adjacent shopping center.  The man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
