Man Hits Parked Car, Fence on South Road

The driver, who was allegedly under the influence, failed navigate a turn in the road and crashed into a fence and another car.

A San Mateo man was arrested in Belmont early Saturday morning after the car he was driving collided with a parked car and ended up in the front yard of a home on South Road, according to Belmont Capt. Pat Halleran of the Belmont Police Dept. 

At about 3:00 a.m. Saturday, Belmont police and fire units responded to a 9-1-1 call that a vehicle had crashed into a fence in the 700 block of South Road. 

Upon arrival, Halleran said officers found that a 2003 Mercedes sedan had been traveling on South Road when it failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road. The Mercedes struck a 2002 Subaru that was parked off the road and then continued through a fence into the front yard of a neighboring residence.

The driver of the Mercedes, Anilber Aristondo, age 23 of San Mateo, was contacted at the scene and was treated by Belmont Fire Department paramedics. He was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Aristondo was arrested for DUI and could face an additional charge of driving on a suspended license, according to Halleran.
