UPDATE, 12:45 p.m.: Earlier this morning, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office informed us that the shooting happened in unincorporated San Mateo County, and then Patch incorrectly reported that it happened in San Carlos.
The shooting actually occurred in unincorporated Redwood City. Patch apologizes for the error.
A 24-year-old man is in critical condition this morning after suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the head, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
According to sheriff's officials, deputies responded to a home in the 300 block of San Carlos Avenue in unincorporated Redwood City around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
The man received treatment at the scene by emergency medical personnel and then was taken to Stanford Hospital. He was listed in critical condition, according to the Sheriff's Office.
