School Crossing Guard Arrested for Assault in Hillsborough

The crossing guard allegedly punched a 53-year-old woman in the face on Tuesday.

 

Hillsborough police arrested a school crossing guard suspected of assaulting a woman and resisting arrest Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to reports of assault and battery near El Cerrito Avenue and Sierra Drive shortly after 10:30 a.m., police said. A 53-year-old woman told officers that she was walking in the area and said hello to a man who was walking in a creek bed. She told officers that the man then walked up to her and said "I'm going to punch you" and then punched the woman in the face, police said.

Police said the suspect refused to exit the creek area when asked by responding officers and was detained for obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.

After an investigation, the suspect, 31-year-old Okaye Gordon, was arrested on suspicion of assault and booked into San Mateo County jail, police said.

Gordon works as a crossing guard for the San Mateo-Foster City School District, according to police. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call police at (650) 375-7470.
