Former Ralston School Custodian Arrested for Allegedly Molesting Student
Andre Edwards was arrested at his Hayward home today.

UPDATE 4:56 P.M.: A former custodian was arrested at his Hayward home today for allegedly molesting a female student last year, according to a statement released by the .
Andre Edwards, 52, was taken into custody this afternoon on suspicion of two felony counts of annoying/molesting a child, and will be booked into jail, police said.

Police began investigating Edwards after claims surfaced that he allegedly groped a female student on campus in November 2010, police said.
"That investigation eventually uncovered additional information on a previously unsubstantiated allegation from 2001, which resulted in the second count," police said in a statement.

Edwards was hired by the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District in September 1987, and retired on Feb. 28 during the four-month-long investigation. The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office issued his $200,000 arrest warrant on Wednesday.
