Firefighters Extinguish Chimney Fire Monday Night

The blaze was reported at 9:20 p.m. on Monday night.

A fire scorched the chimney of a Belmont home late Monday night, forcing two residents to evacuate, a police corporal said.

At about 9:20 p.m., a full response unit of the Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department was dispatched to a single-story home at 506 Hiller St. in Belmont.

Belmont police Cpl. Peter Lotti said when units arrived at the scene heavy smoke was pouring out of the chimney.
