Fire Department Puts Kabosh on Kaboom

The Belmont Fire Department reminds residents that fireworks of any kind are prohibited this Fourth of July.

[The following is a message from the Belmont Fire Department.]

The Belmont Fire Department would like to remind everyone that the sale, possession and use of all fireworks are prohibited within the Belmont Fire Protection District. This includes the "safe and sane" variety of fireworks that may be legal in some other areas in San Mateo County. The Belmont Fire Protection District includes the City of Belmont and the unincorporated section of Belmont in the Harbor Industrial Area.

Please be extremely careful during the Fourth of July holiday season and throughout the summer months with all outdoor activities. The abundance of dry grass and brush in the area coupled with the current period of unseasonably hot weather, has created an extremely dangerous fire condition.
