Fire Department Lacks Space for Equipment Storage

Stations are not big enough to house fire-fighting apparatuses.

When the City of Belmont established its own last fall, it lost some of the equipment storage space it shared with the former Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department.

Now, according to PublicCeo.com, the Belmont Fire Department lacks space in its stations and the city's corporation yard to store some vehicles and gear and has asked the city's fire protection to approve a purchase order that would lease space at an independent storage facility.

The article states that the total cost of this leased storage unit is $12,300 for fiscal year 2012 and is accounted for within the current budget. The fiscal year 2013 lease costs would total $30,000.

The fire department would have around the clock access to the equipment at the storage facility.
