Fire at Belmont Restaurant

A grill fire caused $5,000 in damages at Hola Mexican Restaurant and Cantina.

Embers from a wood-burning grill are blamed for starting a fire that damaged a Mexican restaurant in Belmont on Wednesday night, according to the fire department.

Firefighters responded to reports of fire at at 1015 Alameda de Las Pulgas at about 6:50 p.m., according to the Belmont Fire Department. About 30 restaurant patrons evacuated safely and no one was injured. The fire was quickly brought under control, officials said.

The blaze ignited when embers from the grill fell between the grill and a wall, according to the fire department. The fire caused about $5,000 in damage, officials said.
