Early Morning Crash Kills One on Hwy. 101 in San Mateo

Southbound lanes are now cleared after fatal collision Sunday morning.

 

The California Highway Patrol reports that all southbound lanes on U.S. Highway 101 in San Mateo have reopened as of 3:45 a.m. after a four-vehicle accident left one person dead and another person seriously injured early this morning.

The accident on U.S. Highway 101 near East Poplar Avenue in San Mateo was reported at 12:52 a.m. CHP issued a Sig-alert at 1:13 a.m, which was canceled at 3:47 a.m. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, CHP officials said.
