Do You Recognize These Men? Police Say They Made Off With $6,700 in Cigarettes in Walgreens Burglary

Officers found that unknown suspects had smashed one of the glass front doors with a block of concrete and fled with boxes of cigarettes.

The following is a news release from the Belmont Police Department: 

The Belmont Police are asking for the public's help in identifying two suspects who were captured on security cameras breaking into the Walgreens Drug store in Belmont early last Friday.

On Friday, April 18, 2014 @ approximately 4:15AM, Belmont Police responded to a burglar alarm at the Walgreens Drug Store in the 900 block of Ralston Avenue.  Upon arrival, Officers found that unknown suspects had smashed one of the glass front doors with a block of concrete and fled with boxes of cigarettes.  No suspect vehicle was seen.

The suspects were captured on the store's security cameras smashing one of the glass front doors and loading boxes of cigarettes into plastic trash bags, before fleeing the store.  The suspects were in the store for approximately 2 minutes and the total loss is estimated at approximately $6,700 ($5,700 worth of cigarettes and $1,000 in damage to the door).

The suspects are described as:

  • Susp #1 - Dark skinned male, medium build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and athletic shoes
  • Susp #2 - Dark skinned male, medium build, wearing a gray beanie, dark sweatshirt, jeans and athletic shoes

The Belmont Police are releasing still images from the video with this press release and have posted the video from the store's security cameras on the Belmont Public Safety YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/belmontpublicsafety) with the hope that a member of the public will provide information on this case.
