CHP Steps Up Enforcement for Memorial Day Weekend

More than 50 drivers have been arrested for DUI since 6 p.m. on Friday.

The California Highway Patrol reported fewer Friday night DUI-related arrests during its Memorial Day weekend maximum enforcement period this year than in 2010, the CHP said.

Between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, officers in the Bay Area's 12 CHP commands arrested 52 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence, the CHP said.

A total of 58 arrests were made during the same time last year.
