Bicyclist Struck, Killed Crossing US-101 in Burlingame

The accident is still under investigation, but CHP believes alcohol may have been a factor.

On Saturday night, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Redwood City Area officers were notified of a traffic collision on US-101 northbound, south of Broadway Avenue near Burlingame.

Upon arriving at the scene, responding units located several vehicles stopped on the northbound lanes including a green Honda Accord.  One party was located within the northbound lanes, and sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.

It appears that the subject had attempted to cross the freeway on his bicycle when he was struck by the Honda and subsequently struck by a Dodge. This collision is still under investigation and information will be released as it becomes available.

During theinvestigation US-101 in this area was closed to traffic for approximately 40 minutes
resulting in minimal traffic delays.

It appears alcohol may have been a factor in this collision. The victim's information will be made available by the San Mateo County Coroner's Office once the family has been notified.
