A flashy vehicle was the downfall of two teens who were arrested Wednesday for burglarizing a home in Redwood City.

At about 8 a.m., Redwood City police were dispatched to the 100 block of D Street, after a neighbor reported seeing two suspicious boys leaving a house in a gold 1992 Cadillac Deville.  The neighbor took down the license plate number and called the cops.

Police shared the information with nearby police departments, which proved to be a successful tactic.  At about 6:30 p.m. an East Palo Alto police officer saw the gold Cadillac driving near Eastbridge Street and Willow Road and pulled it over.  The officer alerted Redwood City Police detectives who cruised over to investigate.  In the trunk of the Cadillac, police said, they found a shotgun.

Police arrested Belmont resident Naji Othman, 19, and a 17-year old, and charged them with being gang members in possession of a firearm and for participating in a residential burglary.

The duo reportedly broke into the house in Redwood City through a rear window in the home, rummaged through the house and stole an Apple laptop.  The laptop was not recovered.  Othman, a Belmont resident, was booked into San Mateo County Jail, while the other teen was sent to the San Mateo County Juvenile Detention Center.

Detective Dave Stahler asks that anyone with information about this incident or thes suspects call him at (650) 780-7620.
