Belmont Police: Local Events Could Impact Weekend Traffic

Between the Makers Faire in San Mateo and Hometown Days in San Carlos, police are asking motorists to be aware of possible traffic impacts this weekend.

Although Belmont won't be the host to any large events this weekend, we are wedged between two cities that will: Hometown Days in San Carlos and the Makers Faire in San Mateo. Due to these regional events, the Belmont Police Department is advising drivers that these two events may impact traffic over the weekend, especially Saturday.

Here are the details of each event:

San Mateo – Maker Faire
Saturday, May 18 from 10AM-8PM & Sunday May 19 from 10AM-6PM
The Maker Faire will be held at the San Mateo Event Center (a.k.a. the Fair Grounds). This is a huge event and approx. 400,000 people are expected to attend over the two days (last year 200,000 attended over the two days). As a result traffic on Hwy 101, Hwy 92, El Camino and possibly Old County Road is expected to be heavy. The link to the event is: http://makerfaire.com/

San Carlos – Hometown Days
May 17-19. Street closures will occur for the Hometown Days Parade on Saturday May 18, from 9:15am to 12:00pm.
