Belmont PD: Man Who Arranged Meet-Up With Prostitute Met By 2 Men Instead

One of the men may have been armed with a knife, police said.

The following is a news release from the Belmont Police Department: 
 

Belmont Police conducted a search of the area around a local motel Tuesday evening, after a man reported being confronted by two men.  While the case is still under investigation, the following information is known at this time.

A 40 year-old San Ramon man apparently arranged to meet a prostitute at the Bel-Mateo Motel shortly after 5:00PM Tuesday evening.  When he arrived at the room, the man was reportedly approached by two males, one of whom may have been armed with a knife. 

The man, who was unharmed, was able to flee and call 911.  A search of the motel and surrounding area was conducted by Belmont Police with assistance by units from the San Mateo Police and the San Mateo County Sheriff. 

The suspects were not located and the incident is currently under investigation by Belmont Police.
