Belmont Citibank Robbed Thursday Morning

The suspect was armed with a handgun and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

 

A man armed with a handgun robbed  located at 1888 Ralston Avenue Thursday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. Belmont police officers were called to the bank shortly after the robbery occurred.

According to police, bank employees described the man as middle-aged, wearing a dark colored jacket and a hat. He also wore a flesh colored mask to alter his appearance, so ethnicity is difficult to determine.

Bank video cameras recorded the man at the teller window and exiting the bank. 

Police say the suspect entered the bank alone, approached a teller, passed a demand note, displayed the gun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot through the east doors and walked north toward Academy Drive.

The lone suspect may have made his getaway in a vehicle, though no witnesses were found to confirm this.  

Belmont Police Department investigators are working with the FBI to develop additional leads.  Investigators are also working with CitiBank representatives.
