Belmont Burglary Suspects Elude Police Despite K9, Air Resources Assigned

Police say they searched for 90 minutes following a spotting of one of the suspects on Carlmont Drive.

By Bay City News Service:

Two suspects remain at large after burglarizing a home in Belmont on Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Hallmark Drive at about 11:20 a.m. after a resident saw a male jumping out of his neighbor's yard over a back fence, police said.  Responding officers discovered that the home had been burglarized.

About 20 minutes later, an officer located the suspect in the 2500 block of Carlmont Drive, but when the officer attempted to contact the suspect, he ran into a wooded area, according to police.

Belmont police and San Mateo County sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter and, using K-9 and aircraft units, searched for the suspect. Schools in the area were placed on lockdown for about half an hour during the search, but no students were in any danger during the lockdown, police said.

Witnesses also reported to police that a possible second suspect was seen running behind apartments in the 2500 block of Carlmont Drive during the search.

Neither suspect was found. One is described as a Hispanic male with a shaved head who was wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray pants, and the other is described as an Asian male with braided hair.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Belmont police at (650) 595-7400 or (650) 598-3000.

That is NOT a photo of any Belmont Police vehicle. They must have used photoshop or used a photo from Belmont, MA or NY.
