Andre Edwards' Trial Set for Oct. 29

The former Ralston Middle School custodian is accused of molesting a female student at the school.

The jury trial date for former Ralston Middle School custodian remains set for Oct. 29, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. following a pretrial conference Tuesday in San Mateo County Superior Court.

Because no disposition was reached at the conference, acting criminal presiding Judge Jonathan Karesh affirmed the October trial date.

Edwards, 52, is of committing lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14.

According to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, in his office at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, 2010. Edwards allegedly "grabbed her buttock and cupped her breast with his hand," the district attorney's office reported.

The student told school officials after first period, and the police were called.

Edwards has denied the claims. He retired from the on Feb. 28, 2011 where he had been employed since September 1987.

This is the second setting of the jury trial date since the superior court arraignment on April 10, 2012.  Edwards remains out of custody on $50,000 bail bond.  The defense attorney is Eric Hove and the deputy district attorney on the case is Melissa McKowan.
