Welcome, 2013!
Patch feels very honored and lucky to have you all as readers - and we're committed to bringing you the best in hyperlocal community-minded content.
So, we want to know - what would you like to see more of in 2013?
Is it more...
- Local government and politics, such as coverage of the City Council, Planning Commission, and the like?
- Business content, such as new businesses coming to town, why certain businesses are closing, and what it all means for the local economy and real estate?
- Schools news?
- Local arts and entertainment, such as the best local events going on around town?
- More crime coverage, such as local crime trends, police blotters and the like?
- Sports high school, club sports, youth sports leagues, local colleges
- Or, more coverage of a particular issue in town, such as downtown development, traffic/congestion, or another?
And of course, Patch would like to have more local voices on the site, so we hope you'll consider blogging in 2013---the topic and frequency are up to you! Click on the blog link below for Belmont or San Carlos to learn how to get started.

I read the Lake Tahoe News online, which is like Patch. Their content is usually quite varied and is usually pretty interesting. For instance, there is a commentary letter from their new City Manager about the controversial "Snow Globe" music event which was held for the 2nd year at the ball-field adjacent to the Community College. Last year it was a nightmare, but after engaging committees involving organizers, the college, the City and Police, and the Community - the 2nd year was an amazing success, bringing much needed revenue into South Lake Tahoe. I find this information valuable. The newsletter acknowledges services and support provided to charitable organizations (e.g., Heavenly employees volunteering at the local soup kitchen). What's happening with Safeway's intention to expand? What happened to the Chase Bank application? What performances are lined up for Carlmont HS and NDNU? When will the new burger joint open on Ralston & EC Real? We can encourage more "engagement" in Belmont with moe information.
Call the San Carlos City Clerk -- they have their hand on the pulse of everything. The City Clerk can provide you with all that info, and the best way to access it. Best.. Judi
