National Wine Day

A day to enjoy a glass of wine

Imagine a day dedicated to wine. Why wine? The benefits of drinking wine are great! Wine is heart healthy, it can help with weight loss, reduce forgetfulness, boost the immune system and can help prevent bone loss.

Now I am not telling anyone to go out and consume copious amounts of wine. Instead, enjoy it in moderation. With these benefits, why not drink a glass of wine with dinner? After all, Wednesday is National Wine Day. Give it a whirl!

According to health.com, six out of 10 wine bottles sold in America are purchased by women. I fall into this category and buy a great deal of wine. I drink wine because I enjoy it. A lot. Its richness, full-body flavor, hidden subtleties, varietal choices and complexities make wine interesting and my go-to drink.

Sharing wine with others is so much more personal and fun than just ordering a fancy drink. And now that I have my new kitchen, I have a refrigerator and special room in my basement dedicated to wine. Now there's even more reason to invite friends over to share a bottle.

Since food is my life and my job, naturally, wine falls into this category too. Remember, different wines pair wonderfully with different types of foods. Here's a guide to from foodandwine.com to help you out.

So on National Wine Day, why not go out and purchase a favorite wine? A good bottle of wine does not have to cost a great deal. The weather is perfect for sitting out on the porch and tipping back a nice glass of wine.

Happy eating and drinking!

Gauchezco wines from Argentina are the best value premium wines I have tasted. The Torrontes is oustanding and a nice alternative to Pinot Grigio and Albarino. They have a good blog site at www.gauchezco.wordpress.com
