Home prices are SKY HIGH because people want to live in our public school districts!
So if you want to continue to see your home keep its value...vote YES on Measure R. What are the negatives? Yes, it's true. You would save $174/yr on your property taxes (unless you are exempt as an elderly person). That's $.47/day. Which you are already paying. We aren't asking for any more.
I am a parent. I am a volunteer music teacher at the school. I am also a contributor to the school to help fund the non-core subjects to help these children to get a balanced education. We are active parents, but we can not teach our own children Math, Reading & Writing, and without this bond our schools will suffer, and we will ALL see the consequences in our home values. More families living here = more kids in public school = less money per kid for a public education. We moved here because we believe in the public school system and we believe in Belmont.
CA State budget cuts have threatened our existence, but as a community of parents, we come together every year to make these schools stay at the top of the heap. So we're putting our time and money into the schools, and Belmont homeowners are benefiting. Please be a community member and help us out in return.
