Rilda Merle Humphrey
Rilda entered into rest, peacefully, at 92 years of age in Belmont, CA.
Born to Stephen Ray Stanley and Leigh (Grantham) Stanley in Ashland, OR, Rilda attended schools in Dunsmuir, CA. She was a longtime resident of Redwood City, retiring from the San Mateo County Office of Education, where she was a secretary.
Author of a children's story "McGinty and the Dragon" and four Bible story coloring books. A talented artist in pencils, pastels, oils, acrylics, watercolors, and small oil paintings of animals on carefully selected rocks. A winning contest hobbyist in the 60s of the difficult "in 25 words or less" and similar variants. An eager traveler in the U.S., Middle East, Europe and Russia.
Survived by her husband of 67 years, Clinton Gale Humphrey, whom she met at church in Dunsmuir when he returned from World War II naval service. Also children Patricia (Scottsdale, AZ) and Harold (Pacifica, CA); grandchildren Gustavus, Nathaniel, Clinton and Helen; great-grandson Maximus; brother Stephen; and 11 nieces and nephews. Preceded by daughter Janice, sisters Bernice and Rosalie, and brother Archer.
Rilda found joy throughout her life in love of God, the good news of Jesus Christ, and service to others.
