[Editor's note: The following is a posting from Legacy.com.]
On August 23, Dale James Anderson passed away at his home in Belmont with his loving family by his side. It was with dignity and his characteristic positive attitude that he fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. An eternal optimist, Dale was a kind, compassionate and generous man who would take time to help anyone in need.
Dale was a devoted son to Ron and the late Mary Anderson and Ron's companion, Barbara Teicheira. He was the beloved husband and best friend to Valerie Fontana Anderson and most loving father to Victoria Anderson. Dale is survived by other loving family members: his sister and brother-in-law Julie and Doug Bigham, brother-in-law Mark Fontana, nieces Theresa and Stephanie Fontana and nephew David Fontana. He was a cherished nephew to George and Vikki Kourkouliotis, Jim and Hollace Corcoleotes, George and Donnalei Sumner, and Barbara Schilling. Dale was also the beloved son-in-law of Theresa Fontana and the late Elio Fontana.
Dale was a great friend to many. Throughout his life, he developed a rich community of close friends, especially Glenn Lugliani, Vern Davitte, Gary Vogel, Cliff Kemper, Kris Alesna and Dyer Davis, in addition to many others. He also formed valued friendships with his colleagues at Cisco Systems, Inc. where he worked for the past 13 years. Dale was a very dedicated employee and persevered to continue working throughout his illness and did so until just days before his passing. He was the ultimate professional who took great pride in his work which he performed at the highest standards.
In addition to his family and friends, Dale was passionate about golf, sports cars, good wine, the Monterey Peninsula and his golden retrievers. His love of life was perfectly articulated by his signature adage, "Life is good."
Memorial gifts to honor Dale may be made to Pancreatic Action Network, pancan.org or to his daughter's college fund, "Victoria Anderson's College Fund," c/o The Fontana Building, 7600 El Camino Real, Colma, CA 94014.
The Anderson Family is grateful to Jane Porter, R.N., of Mission Hospice for the care, support and good counsel she provided at the end of Dale's journey.
A celebration of Dale's life will be held in the coming weeks for family, friends and colleagues.
"Life is good."
