Deceased Woman's Lucky Numbers Pay Out Big
The woman's son, won half a million dollars playing her favorite numbers a year after her death. The winning ticket was purchased in Foster City.
A mother's lucky numbers helped one man win more than $500,000 in the lottery a year after her death, according to California lottery officials.
Arnel C. discovered a list of his mother's favorite lottery numbers hidden under her bed while he was cleaning out her things after she died a year ago, said lottery spokeswoman Alex Elias.

Since then, he has regularly been playing the numbers -- which included 31, 24, 20, 33 and 36. His loyalty to her memory paid off this week when those numbers matched the MEGA Millions draw, missing only the Mega number of 44.
The ticket, purchased at the 99 Ranch Market in Foster City, won Arnel $542,032. MEGA Millions is a multi-state game played in California and 43 other states. The jackpot for tonight's draw is $148 million.
